Super Halloween

Luke, being a full-time day care kid, had two Halloween parties at school.  They do two so that part-time kids get to have a party.  Luke dressed up as a cowboy at one party (no pictures because he wouldn't put the outfit on for me at home) and the other day as Superman.  He did fine with Superman, but refused to wear the cape for me.  They did tell me at school that he wore it for trick-or-treating.  Luke was also Superman for the real Halloween, but the weather was awful here.  We went to our friends house to watch the Gators vs Georgia game and to trick-or-treat.  We kept waiting for the rain to stop but it never did, so Josh and I took Luke on a quick trick-or-treat trip to 4 houses.  A man at one of the houses answered the door wearing a big head (looked like the old men from the muppets).  It really wasn't scary, but when he got down and close to Luke, Luke backed up to get away from him.  Then when he got off of the porch, he kept repeating "I scared, I scared."  Here are a couple of pictures from that evening.

Bath time

One night recently, I discovered I had left Luke's bath wash in the bath tub with the lid open from the previous night. That made for some huge bubbles in the bath tub for him to play with. (Normally I just use a little bit of bath bubbles because our hang down shower head is broken so I really don't have a good way to rinse him off at the end of the bath). Luke was really excited about the BIG BUBBLES. However, as soon as I got the video out, he tried to play it cool :)

Luke Speak

I've decided to try a semi-regular installment of the funny/cute things Luke says. Tonight's post stems from cheese.  Josh made us salads and Luke wanted a piece of cheese off of mine.  He took it, at it, and then said "I like cheese...I like it."  He repeated this several times, eating another piece of cheese each time.  It was cute.  Later he wanted to slide down our legs (we lay on the ground with our knees bent and he slides down).  However, he wouldn't get on unless we laid all the way back on the ground.  He came over to us, put his hand on our chest and said "Lay back" while pushing us down :) Then he would slide.  Too funny.

In sad news, Luke has been bitten twice this week. Once on Monday that went unnoticed at daycare and I discovered when I took his shirt off for bath time and again today.  Both bites were on his left arm and actually overlap each other.  Poor Luke!  I asked him who bit him on Monday and today and got two different names, wonder what the reliability is for a 2-year old?

Basketball diaries

Just now as they are playing basketball:

Josh (to Luke): You smell like poops, do you have poops?
Luke: No
Josh: DO you have poops?
Luke: No
Josh: Are you telling the truth?
Luke: No
Josh: Are you lying about your poops:
Luke: Not lying.

Clearly he does have them, but nothing can get in the way of the game :)

Luke's 2nd Birthday

Bear with me, this post will be a little long. Luke's 2nd birthday celebration started the weekend before his birthday and lasted clear through the next weekend.

The first celebration came when Grammy and Papa came to visit us in Altanta. Luke's still yet-to-be-named horsie was waiting for him when he got up Saturday morning.

Luke also received a basketball hoop, adjustable up to 6' from mommy and daddy, I just don't have a good picture of that one yet.   Next, Luke opened a package from his great-grandparents containing lots of trucks and bubble wrap (which Luke had so much fun popping, he giggled with glee after every pop!)

The celebration continued on his actual birthday that week.  I made him a gator cake for him to bring into school.  The teachers told me later that it was enjoyed by all of the children except Luke, apparently he preferred crackers for his afternoon snack :)  He does take after his father!

Then, the following weekend when we were in FL, we had a birthday party for Luke at Lake Seminole Park.  This is the park that my family lived by when I was growing up.  We could ride our bikes to this park we lived so close, so it was neat to celebrate his birthday there.  We were hoping that the weather would hold out for us, but the later it got the cooler and more windy it got.  By the end of the party is was pretty cold :)

Luke loves Elmo so we made it an Elmo/Sesame Street themed party, complete with an Elmo cake made by Grammy.  But guess who didn't want any cake...yep Luke! At least it wasn't just the cake I made!  He just isn't interested in sweets all that much.  Cookies, yes but cake, no.

We then sat down to sing, eat, then open presents.  Josh took over 100 pictures so it was difficult to choose a few to demonstrate the joy Luke had with each gift, but he really did get excited over opening his presents, clothes and all!

Thanks to everyone who came to the party and for all of the wonderful gifts! You all know Luke so well.  We have been having fun this week playing with all of the new presents.

Chuck the Truck, a big hit! Thanks Uncle Walter, Aunt Andi, and Sophia.  At first Luke was a little intimidated, then Sophia showed him how to work it.

A weekend in Florida

This past weekend we traveled to FL for Josh to interview for potential positions for next July. He was very busy in our few days there but had some very encouraging meetings with local Ophthalmologists. It is too soon to say anything for sure, but we are pleased that Josh has been blessed with several options and will be able to decide what is right for him. Please keep him (and us) in your prayers as he/we begin to decide the next step in our lives, its been a long time coming to get here!
While we were in Florida, we also got to celebrate Luke's birthday with all the granparents, aunts, & uncles, and friends. It was a little chilly out at Lake Seminole, but Luke had a great time. Pictures to come when I have time to get them off the camera and loaded :)

Happy #2 to my Baby Luke!

Here is a birthday letter to my baby. I will post pictures later when I get home.

Happy Birthday Luke! You are 2 years old today. I can't begin to express how much your Daddy and me love having you as our son. God surely blessed us with you and we can't believe it has been 2 years already. You have really grown into a little boy. You LOVE trucks, cars, planes, buses, trains...basically anything automotive and you can spot any of them a mile away. You get upset if the truck or bus we are behind turns a different way. You have begun to sing your ABCs and get most of the letters right. You can count to 10, usually by skipping number 5 but hey, you are close! You know a lot of words and speak in 3 word sentences a lot. You know several colors, red, yellow, blue, green, purple, pink, and we are working on orange. You recognize a Gator anywhere and call them Albert! but we are still waiting for the Gator Chomp and a "Go Gators!"
You are getting much better at taking your inhalers. Dr. Harrison said you were perfect today at your 2 year old checkup! You have crossed over into the 50% for height (34.5 inches) and weight (28 lbs) and have moved up to the 95% for head circumference (51 cm). Some of your favorite things to say are "Ready...Go" (no set), "I running," "I sit down," "move," "bye-bye" (in response to mommy saying I love you at bedtime), "read it" "I do it" or "I did it," "I see it." You love to eat lots of different foods. Some of your favorites are: waffles, little fruit snacks, chicken nuggets, macaroni and cheese, broccoli, tomatoes, salad, cheese, nutrigrain bars, and cheeze-its. To sum it all up, you are the best little boy parents could hope for and we are so happy that God chose us to be your parents. We love you Luke!
