David and Nani's Wedding

Over Labor Day weekend we went to Winston-Salem, NC for Josh's cousin David's wedding to Nani. We were so glad we were able to make the trip for the beautiful ceremony and we stayed with Josh's Aunt Carrie, Uncle Mike, and cousin Haley. Luke and Brad had so much fun at Haley's house and Luke asks when he can go back all the time :)

The wedding took place outdoors at a really cool nature park. There was a beautiful fountain in the lake behind where the wedding party stood. As with everything this summer, it was pretty hot, but everyone had a great time!

And this post is actually kind of timely (I know you are thinking how?!) because yesterday David and Nani welcomed their daughter Abigail into this world! She is a cutie and so loved. Congrats to the growing family!

Little inch worm

At 10 months and five days of age, Brad figured out how to move forward! I say he "crawled" but it really looks like a little inch worm :) He was pretty proud of himself! This video is of Brad crawling for Daddy.

He crawled for me first downstairs in the basement earlier that day but we wanted to show Daddy when he got home from work.

We love visitors!

My cousin Kirstin came for a visit in mid-August. We love having visitors, it is so nice to do something different and I love that Kirstin had things in mind to do when she visited Atlanta.
Kirstin had heard of a restaurant called Flip Burger, specializing in gourmet burgers, so we checked it out. I had a turkey burger and it was one of the best burgers I've ever eaten.

We also took in a Braves game, our first visit to Turner field. Luke LOVED it! He keeps asking if he can go again.

It was a HOT day, but cleverly Kirstin had chosen seats that were in the shade at that time of day.

Kirstin, Brad, and I also went to the Coke Museum. I let Luke go to school that day since he'd already been to the museum and I knew he was not a fan of the Coke Polar Bear that walks around!

10 month comparisons

August 2008
Luke at 10 months was around 28.5 inches and 18.5 lbs. He still slept through the night like a champ! He said mama dada nana and ba. He laughed a lot and waved hello and goodbye. He liked pointing at everything. He was pulling up and standing by 10 months and crawled all over on his hands and knees. Luke started to reject jarred baby food at this age. He loved reading and this little piggy. He started drinking from a sippie cup by the end of this month.



August 2011
Brad is around 29 inches tall and 20 lbs
Brad still wasn't sleeping regularly through the night. He'd have good stretches and then start waking up once in the early morning. He was busy busy teething though and got two more teeth by the end of August. Brad babbles happily all the time and he loves to touch faces, especially Daddy's stubbly beard :) He loves being sung too and dancing. He is learning how to point at your nose and loves animal sounds. He is still working on the crawling and eventually gets going later in the month! He also is starting to wave hello and goodbye this month.

New school year, new school

August 10th, 2011 marked the beginning of the new school year for Luke. We decided to put him in a new school at the church we started attending. It seemed to be a good time to switch him as many of his friends were leaving his old school at the same time. Luke has done so well this year. He made new friends easily and he loves his teachers. They are so good with him and all the many things that have come up over the course of this year. He loves to bring in a toy or something every morning to show his teacher and she oohs and aahs over it and he just beams. He goes everyday from 8 til 12 and it has worked out so perfectly.

Funny how the toys you have are just that much more exciting when a friend is there to play!
Luke's buddy Alec came over one day before school started and these two boys had a blast!

riding bikes (we only have one helmet in the house so I made sure our guest wore it, he had the more likely to fall over bike too!) They cracked me up and kept saying "see you at the finish line."

End of Anna Maria Island trip and trip to FL

Our last night on Anna Maria Island we tried to go out to eat at a restaurant right on the edge of the island where you could see a beautiful sunset. The only problem was everyone else had that same idea so the wait was an hour +. With two little boys that doesn't usually spell a good time so we enjoyed the view for a while and then found a faster place to get some food.

The next morning we went out to breakfast. I wanted a picture of me and the boys but the camera was still on video when I handed it to my mom. The result was this funny little video of us posing for a picture!

That was the end of our summer of traveling! What a crazy busy summer it was but other than missing Daddy, we had a lot of fun :) Time to get back home and get ready for school to start!
