Jumping

We enjoyed a great month of July on vacation, and we were pretty much out of Atlanta the whole month. Well, Luke, Brad, and I anyway. Josh had to stay here and work. But now we are back and I'll try to get back to blogging!

Brad LOVES the jumpy chair. Here is some video of his first try at the chair, way back on April 23rd. He loved it from the moment he got in it. It has been so much fun to watch him bounce. Luke never really enjoyed this chair, so it is fun to see Brad have fun with it. He loves it so much he has fallen asleep in it, and had been known to still be bouncing while asleep. He actually is doing this right now as I write this post! I think I got video of this once, I'll probably post it in a few months! Ha.

6 months

Six months in and Brad is doing well!

At six months Luke was 25 and 3/4 inches tall and weighed 15 lbs 10 oz. He had already had his hair cut! He was an excellent sleeper and a good eater. Luke always was the chill baby, just so easy going.

Brad was 26 inches long and 17 lbs 12 ounces at six months.
Brad was still not sleeping through the night and our pediatrician told me to stop feeding him at 3 am and make him cry it out. We did that and it took only a couple of nights for him to start making it to about 6 am.
Brad is a great eater and still smiles and laughs so easily but can get really mad really quickly too. He LOVES the bouncy chair and will bounce himself to sleep in it!

Peas

Ok, I think this is the last video I took of Brad eating.

This time I made him peas. I remember Luke liked them as a baby and even though we don't make peas for ourselves here at this house, I figured Brad deserved a chance to decide for himself if he liked them or not.

In this instance, he did not seem to care for peas. However, he does tend to eat them well whenever I give them to him (I just ran out of the first batch I made a couple of weeks ago, one bag of frozen peas lasted a long time!)

New desk

Luke and I had a great time working on this little project together. My Dad brought up my old desk from their house for Luke. It was white and looking a little worn down and the knobs were pretty girly so we decided to give it a makeover. Luke supervised the sanding, and tried his hand at it too. We went to home depot and he chose black for the color of his desk. He helped me paint it out in the garage (the first coat). I ended up doing 3 coats total to get it looking good. We moved it into his playroom and now it is a great spot for him to color and draw. We just need to find some pull knobs for it, if anyone knows of a place to get some fun pull knobs let me know. The ones at home depot are boring, I'd love to get some trucks/cars knobs.

Brad eats pears, Noah is the clean-up crew

Brad tries out some pears. I fully expected him to like them and I think he did :) You can hear Luke in the background playing chef. This is a game he has been doing for a while, he likes to make you food and pretend to bring it to you, he can play this game for quite a while and sometimes his creations are really interesting!

Brothers

One day I dressed the boys in their matching shirts (from Nana!) and tried to get a good picture of the brothers. However, I made the mistake of doing this while cartoons were on so most of my pictures look like this:



I did get a couple of good shots though.





Then Luke decided to give Brad a hug



and I had to take some video of Luke playing with Brad. This was back in April (the 8th) so Brad still couldn't sit up very well (he is better at it now, but still will fall over if you don't watch him) and Luke was definitely still in the mode to only acknowledge Brad if he felt like it. Luke is much better about that now, he even worries over Brad and will let you know "don't worry, I'm taking care of him." He has his jealous moments still for sure, but usually he is really sweet to Brad and will share toys better than I expect him too.

Here is some really exciting footage of Brad eating apples and butternut squash for the first time. I enjoy it and I suspect some grandmas might like it, but unless you really like watching little babies learn to eat or you really just love watching Brad, you'll probably want to skip it :)

Brad likes both apples and butternut squash. He continues to dislike carrots! He loves to try to grab the spoon, but if he is hungry he'll just let me shovel it in and I mean shovel it in. He gets mad if you are too slow. As always Luke and Noah are a big time distraction to him. I've gotten to calling them side-show Joe and Sparky as they seem to like to act up when Brad is feeding. I've had to ban them both from wherever I am while Brad nurses!

On a side note, I have really enjoyed having more time with this baby to make his baby food. Josh did some quick math and figured if you calculate my time and effort in making the food, the cost of just buying it pre-made is just about the same and depending on the price of certain foods, may be even cheaper. So I guess I'm not saving us that much money making it. Oh well, he'll be on to eating table foods so soon that the next order of baby food blends may get to be to complex to make at home for me anyway.
